Composite personaNurse anesthesia program adopts cohort dashboard for boards-readiness
Faculty identified low-readiness students 4 months before NCE; intervened with targeted remediation. Pass rate improved from 87% to 96% the following year.
“The weak-domain heatmap is what I'd been building manually in Excel for 10 years. Now it's live for every student in real time.”
Background
Mid-sized DNP program in the Mountain West. 24 students per cohort. Faculty used a homegrown spreadsheet to track student NCE-prep progress — manual, time-consuming, and only updated quarterly. Most-at-risk students often weren't identified until 2 months before boards.
Implementation
Enrolled the program on Enterprise tier (program-tier pricing $4,800/year for the cohort). BAA signed at onboarding. Roster imported via CSV — 24 students. Faculty access scoped to view-only with audit logging. Onboarding: 1-hour training session for 3 faculty.
What changed
Faculty cohort dashboard shows per-NBCRNA-domain accuracy across the entire cohort. Within 6 weeks of rollout, the program director identified 4 students with cardiopulmonary accuracy below 60% — a known NCE-failure correlate. Intervened with: (1) mandatory cardio review module, (2) weekly faculty meetings with each student, (3) practice-exam scheduling. All 4 passed NCE first attempt. Overall cohort pass rate the following cycle: 96% (vs 87% the prior year).
Faculty workflow benefit
Director's quote: 'I used to spend Saturdays running pivot tables in Excel against student-submitted Q-bank attempts. Now I open one URL and see the same picture in 2 minutes. I have my Saturdays back.'
